Every time a new person moves in at Ladjo (my office) I have to make his or her computer talk to the network printer. Since I only have do this two or three times every year I forget the procedure from one time to the next. This post is simply a memo to myself.
Windows XP
* Open up printers from the Control panel
* Double click “Add Printer” and choose “Network Printer”
* Choose the “Connect to a printer on the Internet or on your intranet”
* Enter the URL for your CUPS printer **http://192.168.0.4:631/printers/raw**
* Select the correct printer manufacturer and driver HP, Laserjet 4000 PS
Mac OS X
* In “Print center” add a printer
* Set the protocol to IPP
* Select IP-printing and enter the address (192.168.0.4)
* Set the queue name to **printers/raw**.
* Set any location and name for the printer you feel like.
* Select the make and model for the printer (HP / Laserjet 4000 PS)
